Canada Pages News – Feb. 24 – For building a better Alberta, Budget 2011 lays the foundation. For this purpose the province is maintaining government’s commitment to preserving precedence programs and investing in infrastructure, while holding the line on spending.

The government revenue is forecast to be lower during the next two years than originally predicted. However, revenue is expected to recover strongly, which together with tight controls on spending, will put the province back in an excess in 2013-14.

During the next three years budget 2011 outlines $17.6 billion to build schools, hospitals, roads, and other predominantly public infrastructure to fulfill the needs of a province and economy that is growing again. It also maintains government’s commitment to not raise taxes.

The plan includes growing Ontario’s renewable power supply from sources like wind, solar and bio-energy by 10 per cent, up to 10,700 megawatts. the long-term energy plan include closing all coal units by 2014, building the largest expansion in hydroelectric power in almost 40 years, securing clean and reliable nuclear power, creating above 50,000 jobs and helping to reduce costs for consumers.
