Jobs for Youth Program in Prince Edward Island

The jobs for Youth program offer the wage support to Island employers to create further employment opportunities for the students of age 16 to 29. The program is administered by the Employment Development Agency and 100% funded by the Government of the Prince Edward Island

Eligibility

This program is comprised of three components

  • Private Sector
  • Non-Profit Sector
  • Public Sector

Private Sector

The private sector component of the jobs for youth program aimed to create new jobs for the students to by granting financial incentive to private sector employers.

Non-Profit Sector

The Non-Profit Component of the jobs for this program is aimed to create jobs for Island students by assisting local non-profit organizations to carry out the projects which are beneficial for the communities of Prince Edward Island

The businesses, non-profit organizations and provincial government departments may submit project proposals to hire students for eight to twelve weeks.
Program Guidelines and Applications are also available from the Employment Development Agency or any Access PEI location.

Students hired to fill positions of approved projects must be registered with the Employment Development Agency Jobs Registry.
